we currently make available to all our employees prescription safety specs, these are on a free issue basis and usually they are replaced every 2 years, except if damaged have been informed that one of our employees has been diagnosed as having cataracts and will have to have his specs replaced every 6 months. Anyone out there had this situation and do we have to continue to supply specs
and bear the 6 monthly costs, or can we look at alternatives.

I take it that the claim that his glasses will need to be changed every six months has come from his consultant or optician? Might be teaching my granny to suck eggs, but just wanted to check that you are sure that this is actually the case, and not just what the employee has told you.

Have you considered providing safety over-glasses which will go over the top of his own prescription glasses instead?
