When elderly residents in a care home have their haircut should they have their hair washed facing forward over a basin for rinsing or tilted backwards. I am led to believe that there is a greater possibility of inducing a stroke if an elderly person faces forward with their head over the basin. Does anyone know if there is any truth in this? Thanks in advance.

i remember this being in the papers, so a quick google and it comes up with this:

As this was in 2004 I would expect that there has been more research and more up to date information available.

The std with hairdresser salons appears to be "backwards", so why not adopt this ?
