Afternoon all,

I am looking for some advice regarding the undertaking of the Nebosh Diploma.

I have the opportunity to undertake the course in block release format commencing in Janaury 08 and completing all four units by April 08.

Bearing in mind the work life balance etc, has anyone completed the course in such a short space of time? Or is it advisable to undertake the course over a longer period?

My employer is luckily willing to accomodate both options.

Just wanted to know the thoughts of anybody who has undertaken the course ?

Regards

Leetal

Wow, i couldn't even contemplate undertaking the course in such a short space of time. I am currently undertaking the diploma on day release, one day a week, i sat my unit A in July 07, i am due to sit my unit B in January and (fingers crossed) sit my final exam in July 08. Bare in mind there is an assignment to fit in as well of 8000 words, if i were you i would seriously reconsider taking the course over such a short period. The course is an excellent one and very interesting, and i am enjoying taking it all in step by step, but even at this pace, it does take over your life. Of course, everyone is different with different learning preferences, so i can only speak for myself. Hope this helps, and good luck:)

Sean,

Thank you for your response, i agree with you that i maybe taking on to much in such a short space of time.

I am looking forward to undertkaing the course and feel that this is possibly something that would be better undertaken over a longer period of time.

Good luck with your final unit :)

Regards

Definitely don't attempt it over such a short period. The amount of knowledge you have to accumulate is enormous. I did it over a period of 12 months and I virtually had to put my life on hold for the whole of that period. In my view training providers that are running courses over such a short period of time, presumably so they can fit 2 courses into a year are being irresponsible, money grabbing and can't possibly be giving value for money in terms of quality of training , and necessary support to students.

Can't see a major problem with the short timescale - the big question really is are you prepared to put in the effort and are yoiu used to studying etc. If you haven't studied for a long time it may be worth considering longer options. Personally I don't think the course is really that difficult, but of course everyone is different

Maybe for you, but for the majority of people I have spoken to it was difficult. If it is as easy as you seem to think what value does it have?

Leetallis

Take as long with it as you need. Don't rush it just to fit into some training provider's narrow schedule.
