Just calculating these figures now however would like some comfirmation. AFR based off no. of lost time accidents(RIDDOR reported) divided by man hours x 100,000 and............ AIR no. of lost time accidents divided by no. of employees x 1000. I have accident records and hours that are calendar year ie jan-dec. are the stats above supposed to be fin year? The HSE stats are always 05/06, 06/07???

Thanks,

Todd

Frequency rate = total number of accidents divided by total number of hours worked multiplied by 10,000

Incidence rate = total number of accidents divided by number of persons employed multilied by 1000

Severity rate = total number of days lost divided by total number of hours worked multiplied by 1000

You can change the multiplication factor to suit, when put into an excel spreadsheet, can be used to compare against target in form of graph etc.

If unable to find out hours worked can get a rough guide by multiplying number of emplyees by number of standard contract hours. Obviously this does not take into account any additional hours worked etc.

I think that the AFR can be based on 1000, 100000, or even 200000 worked hours. Depends who you talk to and who you compare with.
I have been informed that 200,000hrs is based on 100 employees working 40hrs per week, for 50 weeks per year.
Hopefully someone will have the definitive answer.
HSE stats are April to March. Some companies use calender year, we use business year, but at the end of the day, its basically 12 months
