Moe,

A wee bit if searching on teh internet will give you a substantial amount of information on the topics you need. To start you off:-

OSHA is the Occupational Safety and Health Admisintration, the USA statutory body responsible for OSH. Go to www.osha.gov

OHSAS 14000 refers to the Environment Management Standard, try a search for ISO 14000 and ISO 14001 you will get further information. See this site for information, http://www.iso.org/iso/iso_14000_essentials

On the other hand OHSAS 18001 is the safety management standard. Look here for details, http://www.lrqa.co.uk/ne...ustrynews/ohsas18001.asp

BS refers to British Standards and again their website will give further details, http://www.bsi-global.com/

And (sorry) but to confuse matters further: Working in that part of the world you will probably come across several countries / companies working with ILO-OSH 2001 guidelines (google search will find them) rather than the OHSAS / OSHA systems.

In all honesty - between ILO / OHSAS / HS(G)65 - there is very little practical difference. Never come across an OSHA systems standard...

Not sure whether your query is related to what we would normally understand by 'management system' - or whether you may be getting irritated by the differences in some parts of the S&H practice adopted - e.g. which accidents and injuries are recorded / reported? These differences irritate many of us who need to work across national boundaries!
