One of the fire doors will not close by its closing device due to a thick carpet rubbing against the bottom of the door. The door has to be shut manually.
My question is this - can the bottom of the fire door be trimmed without effecting it's performance? I understand that only the top and both sides of the door have intumescent strips - so trimming the bottom of the door just slightly would not be a factor?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Don't touch the door as you are likely to compromise it's effectiveness by altering the fit in the frame.
Perhaps one of our fire safety members or the door manufacturer can advise further on this.
My gut feel would suggest that any solution needs to involve the carpet.
Ensure it is properly glued down and doesn't ruck. Alternatively you could use a cheap disposable razor to 'shave' the fluff away from the offending area to ensure the smooth closure of the door. Do check with the premises team first before you do this though.

Forgot to say I agree with the previous post. Try rehanging the door as well it may have slipped on the hinges
