Posted By Stephen D. Clarke Can anyone offer advice on the pros/cons of using mobile man anchors, sometimes called limpet anchors, for short duration work on a flat roof which doesn't have any fixed anchor points.
cheers
Steve

Posted By Dave Merchant There are two threads here discussing that, both of which are quite long and detailed. Search via the link on the right, using the term "mansafe" in all forums over the past 6 months.

Posted By David Bruce Pros - Relatively cheap, can be maintained at ground level, excellent piece of kit if used correctly, doesn't damage covering due to rubber pads if regularly inspected and maintained, does not require penetration of roof material for fixing.
Cons - Not intended to be used with fall arrest equipment (ie. not for work on perimeter gutters or over edges), could be dangerous if wrong length of fall restraint was used (applies to all restraint systems), has the potential to be sited too close to edge / fragile roof area for restraint to work, will require several trips to take up component parts & weights up to the roof (increased risk of falls / dropping if using ladder as form of access) has potential to damage roof if rubber protection is coming away and roof covering is particularly prone to damage.
