I am right in thinking "a assault on a member of staff from member of public..caused a cut to eye, went to A&E treated within the hour, back at work next day... is not reportable?

Cheers

Hi Kevin

It would be recorded in the accident book as per. It could be a RIDDOR if the employee was unable to do their normal job due to restrictions placed on them by the injury for over 3 days. But if not, then no RIDDOR.

Hope this helps

Kevin Lizzie's advice applies only if the injury is due to the physical, rather than psychological effects of the injury. If he's off due to being upset by the experience it's not a RIDDOR
