Posted By Robert K Lewis My real feeelings probably cannot be printed. However one has to wonder at the incompetence of a government department, that is the home of the relevant regulatory authority, with such litle grasp of legislative requirements. They even think topsoil is inert waste. Will heads roll? - I doubt it but it must rank with HRMC and 2 CDs as an example of the lack of competence by our current administration in Downing Street. Parties and breweries come to mind.

Posted By Jim Walker It most likely comes down to the fact that any good civil servants have got so fed up with job conditions & meddling have now left. Leaving the arrogant & hopeless to mess things up.
Ditto the data fiasco
ditto NHS
Did anyone see Jerry Robinson on TV last night? I really feel sorry for anyone working in a government controlled establishment and trying to improve services.

Posted By Eric Taylor Go back and look at the article, look at the start of para 6. Read it? good, now how about we be quite till the truth is known instead of doing what we seem to critisize various other people for doing, going off on a rant without anything to back it up.
or am I missing something?

I am sure however that proper documentation for disposal would have been totally effective contradiction. It was not forthcoming so it seems unliely to exist. My waste management hat is feeling rather uneasy over all this. But then maybe the people in control do not understand the information they have in order to provide it. Both ways lack of competence becomes an issue.

Posted By Eric Taylor you are missing the point, it's not yet proven where it came from. innocent until proven guilty.
e.g. the vehicles used to transport it could have been contaminated? Soil was fine till it went in the trucks.

Posted By Jim Walker Eric,
I assume by now that everyone agrees this year's F&M came from Pirbright?
And it did not escape by an act of God?
And had it been a commercial organisation heads would have rolled & fines & damages claims & "Polluter pays" would have all happened by now.

Posted By Robert K Lewis Whether or not the soil was clean documentation should exist to demonstrate the Duty of Care requirements. Hence the place of disposal should be known.
