We have all our equipment PAT Tested apart from extension leads taken out on site (110v) The MD has purchased a heavy duty socket tester for these leads to be tested.
The question: is this acceptable? or would we have to have all the leads PAT Tested and if so what is the point of these being on the market?

Posted By Ron Hunter A socket tester will tell you if the wires are all connected to the correct terminals and are all present. It won't give you an indication that there is effective earth continuity or adequate insulation resistance between current carrying and protective conductors. Socket testers have very limited use in the field, and your MD's knowledge/expertise may be limited. Don't forget the importance of visual examination, both formal and user checks!
