I am proposing to introduce an audit system into an office environment, the system is designed to raise the awareness among the office staff (300-400) and their line management by involving a cross section of line managers and their subordinates.
I have looked at using either the Dupont STOP system or SUSA (Safe and Unsafe Act Auditing), however I feel that both of these tend to be for construction or manufacturing environments as they both depend on observations of acts.
Has any one any experience on introducing audit systems into office environments which would fulfil my objectives of involving people in auditing.

Hi John

I have just responded direct. There are ways in which this can be done and a focus on certain behaviour integrated into the observations. An initial review identifies the right aspects to focus on, such as ergonomics and workstation posture, operational discipline around environment including access/egress and work areas, key behaviour of maintenance personnel and management of these risks. If tailored correctly it can be a much more engaging and interesting approach to the usual office safety inspection.

Best wishes

Ian

I have always considers systems such as the "stop" system to be on the job safety monitoring rather than an auditing activity.

This safety management activity differs in many ways to an auditing system which sets out to measure performance against a pre-determined set of standards. It was not quite clear if you actually want to monitor or audit.
