Anyone have any details about this scheme? Due to come in to force in the New Year.

I have searched the Bovis Lend Lease site for details as they are the ones behind it, but can't find anything.

Do we need yet another one though?

In fairness Bovis have aimed this PQ specifically at their "top 300 contractors" but aim to "encourage" others to join the scheme. The accredittation involves more than just H&S but the cost per annum is a staggering £3000 plus VAT.

At £3525 absolutely no, however I suspect that this year we are going to see significant growth in the number of these schemes.

Unless these schemes adopt a single accredited process such as ISO 9001/14001, the danger is that business working within the construction industry will need to develop different safety management systems in order to pass each of these schemes and there is the additional fee cost that each business shall have to accommodate.

Happy New Year to you and I totally agree. There is a major deficiency in the management systems of most organisations with regards to managing and demonstrating competence. These schemes seem increasingly to be increasing the paperwork burden and even those organisations with acceptable systems are forced into the additional "answer my questions in this format" situation. So much for the reduction of bureaucracy.

Think I better get on with my book this year:-)
