Posted By N.I Morning all, Please could anyone tell me what the distance must be for an eye chart on a wall and the person having the test? And does anyone know where I can get the guidance notes on how to perform the test correctly? (and yes I have tried spec savers lol)
Nick.

Posted By Paul Duell Try SP Supplies, I think they sell them. Look for "Snellen chart".
They come in different sizes with different mounting distances - you can also get them in "mirror print", so you mount them behind the person being tested and they view it in a mirror on the opposite wall, enabling smaller rooms to be used.

Posted By water67. Hi, a bit confused as to why anyone would need this, are you intending to carry out tests? My understanding was only a qualified optician can do this. Also remember test distance for VDU users is different from a general test.
cheers.

Posted By Pete Longworth Occupational health nurses do this type of test all the time in my experience. This type of test would give an indication that a problem with a person's eyesight may exist, or whether a person's eyesight may be starting to deteriorate. Obviously, if further investigation was required then this would be done by a qualified optician.

Posted By N.I We currently use a very technical piece of equipment that tells our occ health team exactly the same as an eye chart does, We do these tests for FLT drivers and medicals, If there is any cause for concern then the occ health team would referr the person to an optician.
