On my certificate states that it is only valid for three years. Once it runs out I am required to sit the whole course again or refresher courses available?

Mornin'
I've just had a look at my Managing Safely certificate and there is no mention of it being valid for three years. Should it have a time limit like the 1st aid at work or did I pass with a high enough score that I don't need to be re assessed? (THE LAST BIT WAS TONGUE IN CHEEK SO PLEASE DON'T SHOOT ME)Or perhaps there has been a recent change in the way the Certificate is validated, with a recognition of the need to remain current/CPD etc. (Just for info, the Certificate was issued in April 2005 by IOSH)

The 3 year limit and refresh requirement was put on the cert for a short, as it was considered to be an effective way of ensuring people didn't receive training, claim competence and never update skills. It was pointed out that there were other ways of maintaining CPD, and it was decided to remove the specific requirement to re sit. I understand you could for a while of sent your cert back and got the time bar removed, not sure if this still applies. The point is it is up to the individual to maintain knowledge whether through the cert refresh route or another way.
