Is it necessary to put fire blanket into kitchens of resedential flats we supply as temporary housing?

If anyone has, on what basis?

The area is low risk (apart from the residents cooking), in so much that a fire RA has been carried out, the block and flats have heat/smoke detectors, emergency lighting and is monitored routinely.

Can't see any other reason from the fire RA why we would need them.

If the person who carried out the FRA identified a need then contact them as to why. but at the end of the day they are very cheap to purchase and offer some form to fight a fire (chip pan fire, electrical fire) by smothering the fire and little training is required as the instructions are clearly on the container.

They could have also made a requirement to have fire extinguishers located in the building as well which would then require servicing.

I think fire blankets offer a very low cost and require no servicing other than they are still there.

Thanks Phil.

Can't contact the person who put them in, I think they did it for the reasons you've said as there is no particular risk I can see to have them other than they are low maintenance, easy to use and offer some protection.
