This one did move me to respond as follows:
"Useful piece in some ways until you attack in a mindless fashion elf&safety. The real target is the political nanny state developed by labour and should not be the HSE and the many Chartered Safety and Health Practitioners who fight every day to ensure that the employees who go to work each day return to their homes fit and healthy.
As you correctly identify it is the political elite who have no understanding of risk who develop these ridiculous rules and "regulations". But the media itself is trying to find elf&safety in everything - witness the BBC presentation concerning field trips today on R4"

Three responses to this badly argued, inconsistent and downright scatty diatribe by somebody who is evidently familiar with ordinary people and their working lives. Most people in Brandsholme are called Camilla; but I shouldn't judge people by their class, that wouldn't be PC, would it?
Three responses, two challenging the idea that HSE's budget should be cut, and one from a free-marketeer in California. The last one evidently has a very personal stake in the issues discussed,

I'm afraid I couldn't even bring myself to read the whole article, or else my head may have exploded. :-)
But I'm sure the HSE will be delighted to hear that their budget is "burgeoning". That would surely explain their decrease in staff over the past 2-3 years.........
