Is there a cultural sea change? just settled into some Friday night light TV entertainment and the plot wasn't shaping up too well. Health and Safety says this ...health and safety says that......Punch line was, however, a municipal safety officer who set sensible controls and let all risk takers thereafter get stuck into a mock battle on village green. Refreshing or what!!!!

Not that refreshing IMHO :-)

The safety officer was still made out to be a bit of a numpty. He had his clipboard, of course, and I am not sure that the controls he was advocating were really necessary. He acknowledged that the result was a boring event but he hadn't the courage to say: just forget the health and safety stuff and have a good time - you all know what the risks are and you are here of your own choices, therefore it's your problem and not the Council's.
