We have a variety of machines where i am safety advisor (drills/lathes etc), how often should these be inspected? My manager has put together a check list akin to war and peace I feel this will be counter productive I know PUWER states 'periodic' inspections. Any thoughts?

Could not this be part of the routine maintenance, Steven?

It would depend on how often they are used. Try getting people to do a check every time they use the equiopment by checking the cable is still attached and the kit is fit to use. It will only take a minute or so.
