We have had water leaking through an asbestos ceiling. The ceiling is in good order, painted therefore encapsulated. The area is out of bounds until the roof is repaired.
After taking advice from our Asbestos team they seem to think that there is nothing to worry about, however I think the area should be vacuumed with the appropriate equipment.
Am I being over cautious?

You can only get asbestos related illness's by inhaling the very fine asbestos particles!
Well thats what I have been made aware of!

If the water is leaking through the roof, the asbestos particles will be contained within the water, and should therefore not be airbourne. As long as the leaking water is controlled and disposed of safely, there shouldn't be any problems.
However im no expert on asbestos, but im guessing if the specialists in the field give it the all clear, you just have to listen to the professional opinion.

If the ceiling isn't breached or broken, then no fibres have been released Mike. There are no nasties to need vacuumed up.
