Following my colleague seeing some teenagers climb onto the roof of the industrial unit oppersite to fetch their football he has deemed that our unit and all other units we have should have fragile roof signs attached.

I have been asked to do a risk assessment and write a guidance note for the branch managers to install the signs. All the branch managers are technically minded so will have no trouble with the actual installation using a hand held drill and some screws.

The concern i have is that the signs need to be placed out of reach so access will be needed. As the task will only take a few minutes i assume it would be acceptable to use a ladder so long as it is properly footed and done so on a calm dry day. or am i being a little shortsighted?

Light duty scaff tower would be more appropriate. Ladders are not good working platforms, drilling and fitting signs is normally a two-handed job and sometimes requires high force or possibly even snagging.

Ladder as a last resort.

You may need to justify your decision on grounds of cost, suitability, etc.
