Posted By Rachael Palmer Dear All, I'd appreciate if you could spare a few minutes to answer some questions for me. We currently subscribe to an online information system. Our subscription is due for renewal soon so I am reviewing other information systems on the market to see if we can get better value for money from another provider. Please could you let me know which information system you have access to, what do you like about it, what don't you like about it, have you had experience of any other systems, if so why did you change? your comments would be appreciated so I can make an informed decision on whether to remain with our current supplier or transfer to another provider. Thank you P.S. I thought it best not to name our current supplier so I don't upset the mods.

Posted By Paul Phillips I use Technical Index one stop shop, I used to use HSE Direct, I find it easy to use and up to date most of the time. It's idiot friendly, which is why I use it.

Posted By Dave Adams CMIOSH Technical Indexs are good, so are Barbour's Index (to redress the balance). Get reps in from all companies. They should offer you a trial period so you get a chance to check them out. I have used them both and found them to be both good services. http://www.barbour-index.co.uk http://uk.ihs.com/

Posted By peter gotch Hi Rachael. We have various TI products including OHSIS which is excellent. I access OHSIS on an almost daily basis to find obscure guidance. Regards, Peter

Posted By Della Pearlman I use both CIS/IHS (the new name for Technical Indexes) and Barbour - they tend to be competitive in price, especially if they know they are in competition with each other. You can have free access to CIS' index, so you can see the range of their information - go to: http://uk.ihs.com/produc...dards/cis-index-only.htm Barbour has a very good monthly information bulletin, CIS' is not quite so comprehensive. You should note however, that CIS has tied up quite a number of sole use agreements with various publishers. If you want British Standards, you will also have to subscribe to BSI in addition to a subscription to the service. Subscription to these online services does give you immediacy of information, and wide variety of resources, but as they tend to cost around the same, its down to a matter of personal preference in the end. Della
