Employee has an epileptic fit in work treated by a first aider and is taken to hospital by ambulance (dischared later that day) - is this required to be entered in the accident book - I do not think it does as it was not as a result of an accident ?????

That per se is not an accident, but if an injury occurred as a result of the fit that would indeed be. You should however be moving forwards in a direction that will be beneficial to all parties now that this epileptic fit has happened.

All the best

But it did result in a first aid intervention.

So while it might not go in the formal BI510 book, your first aider would be advised to keep a record of the tratment in line with his/ her training.

Plus, how do you know prior to formal investigation that it wasn't triggered by an at work event?

we have an Incident form and on top of that an accident form.

It might seem a lot but with the work we do most of our incidents are not injury accdeints.

The first aider should keep a log of what first aid they have given and why.
