Hi,
My company (Northern Ireland based)are currently tendering for work in the Republic Of Ireland. Could anyone give me any advice as to how to amend our Health & Safety Policy to bring it into line with that of the Republic?
Thank you.

The requirements for a safety statement (the equivilent of the Safety Policy required under UK legislation) are outlined on Section 20 of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005 which can be found on www.irishstatutebook.ie

If you visit the HSA website FAQ section at http://www.hsa.ie/eng/FA...Assessment/#prepare%20ss you will find a question titled - How do I prepare a Safety Statement? The answer to the question contains information on what is required in the safety policy.
As noted above for work in ROI you will however need to prepare a Safety Statement, which in addition to the policy also contains information on responsibilities, protective and preventative measures, safety resources and significantly risk assessments for your work activities.

Has your firm got the Safe t Cert, for tendering for NI work?
If so, the addition of the Safety Statement, along with the SMS in place for Safe t Cert should suffice.
