Hi,
still new in the post and learning all the time.
Are there any particular requirements for the dismantling of tower cranes? We have one coming down in the near future and we have plans to shut 2 buildings close by (within 200m) and one wing of a third building during the dismantling. This is precautionary as at no point should the parts of the tower crane be carried over any building. I have slight concerns that estates have only shut one wing on the third building.
Am I being paranoid or is there anything about tower crane dismantling that I should be worried about!!

Thanks

Allan

Your not being paranoid. Just make sure that you get a method statement. Also check that you have test certificates for any harnesses and a working at height rescue plan just in case. Check the mobile crane documents are all in date etc. Check the certiificates of the people doing the job ask for CPCS or similar competencies. And try not to worry. If anything goes wrong it can't be your fault. Just try to learn a bit. I'm sure you will get other postings on this subject.

As mentioned by the Toecap get a Method Statement from the Tower Crane Supplier which should remove most of your worries. It is strongly recommended that Tower Crane De-Rigs are carried out by a Contract Lift. Ask the Tower Crane Supplier to visit and discuss your reservations most will be happy to help.

Thanks for the responses - I've just managed to get confirmation from the estates department that a method statement for dismantling has been received and agreed to - so at least as Toecap says - I've done my part. Always learning, I suppose.
