Posted By HelenB Hoping someone out there can help me. I am trying to arrange a visit to another site/industry to see how cross contamination issues are controlled. It doesn't really matter what industry this is as many of the principles will be similar,(pharmaceutical, food, nuclear, chemical, biological). If physical barriers and changes of clothing are necessities even better. Can anyone help?

Posted By Ali The controls actually do matter, since you may be dealing with anthrax spores one day, viruses the next and radiation the day after that etc. Principles may be similar, but actual controls may differ widely and range from white coats / overalls to industrial fume cupboards to remote handling depending on the nature and size of hazard in question.I once visited a lab making metal hip replacements and the lab was higher than operating theatre stds ! I would imagine manufacturers of other similar products might have similar stds too. You may wish to dip in & out of HSG's 61, 97, 103, 131, 167, 173, 205, 223 (check out the HSE website).
