I need to order some guidance for the storage of LPG and oxy-acetylene bottles. After searching the net and the IOSH forum there appears to be two main codes of practice or guidance notes. One form the LPGA and the other BCGA
As I only want to buy one which is the best value for money, useful or informative??
Does anyone have any feedback???
Thanks in advance
Matt

I find the BCGA code covers most of the aspects for all cylinder gases.

Be careful here
The LPGA document has the status of an ACoP and HSE will expect full compliance when storing LPG and only LPG
The BCGA document is mainly focussed on gases other than LPG (like Acetylene, Oxygen, Nitrogen, Hydrogen, etc.).
In essence you need both (depending on how much you are storing) but as a rule of thumb for storing a few 47 KG cylinders - store LPG cylinders at least 3.0 metres away from all other gases and keep Acetylene and other flammable gases as far away from Oxygen as you can. Fill the gap with inert gases like Nitrogen CO2 and Argon.
Have the compound at least 1.0 metre from your boundary fence.
Restrict access to the compund, post signage and control naked lights. Provide decent lighting and a good floor surface.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the feedback,
I have ordered the LPGA document initially as the majority of the gas we have is LPG, with just one oxy-acetylene set which is stored elsewhere.
thanks again
