If road works are to be carried out on motorway service areas, (not the motorway on / off slip roads), and a tapered cone system is needed, Does it need to comply with Street works act or other COP or ACOP. What distance between cones, and what other signage should be considered. The service areas have constant HGV through traffic. Thanks

Posted By Robert K Lewis Good practice would say yes even if not legally required under NRSWA. I would use the 1m cones though and apply the 40 mph requirements. Bob

Posted By James Holland Advance warning- 'Men at work' + 'Road narrows' prior to the work site then a 610 directional arrow at the start of the taper. Possibly consider the use of cone mounted danger lamps if heavy traffic flow or low levels of artifical lighting.
