Asbestos air testing site clearance certification

I know it is a requirement for the lab/company who issues site clearance certification to be independent from the removal company in order to demonstrate impartiality.
However, is it normal for the customer to select the company used for air testing/clearance or acceptable for the removal company to?
Thanks

Some HSE inspectors encourage the client to place the order direct for the clearance testing as they are responsible for placing people to work on re-occupation. It is really a matter of confidence in the impartiality of the results that seems to be the issue. I have to say I tend to go with them to a degree but the industry is geared up for the removal company to organise the clearance.

Ok cheers Bob.
That's fine as we'd implement a regime for a contractor selected by us to do spot checks on the air monitor company.
But just wanted to check that it was acceptable for the remover to select the tester.

Brenda, employers who have frequent need of asbestos removal works tend to know and directly engage the lab. Smaller or one-off works tend to rely on the remover's knowledge to identify a competent lab. It seems to work.
