Sorry but I'm a bit steaming angry.
I challenged the quality of a report generated by an occupational health department. The occupational health department had written up a risk assessment on a subject which they clearly had no knowledge or sufficient experience of the subject to undertake.
When I challenged the process, and the content of the risk assessment with the Director in charge of the department, the response was 'they did their best'
If you don't have sufficient knowledge or expertise of a subject is it ok, if you argue that you've done your best.......oh by the way they put in writing that they had expertise in the subject, thus why they were choosen to undertake the task
Ok, I'm fine now

No Jean, simply not good enough! Clearly your own level of competency is not in doubt as you could see the wrongs with said report; the danger of course is, if it is not sufficiently accurate it may just come full circle to be part of any eventual process of investigative audit, and if 'that' erroneous, it could have a really negative impact on the individuals affected by the recommendations and indeed the organisation itself.
Always so much more to consider when putting pen to paper.

Jean,
You may be fine now but what about anyone affected by the risk assessment that is not suitable or sufficient?
I think you could take this further.
How do people like that get away with incompetence?
