Posted By Richard Altoft unless it is a specially designed helmet liner that the manufacturer of the helmet has taken into account when testing and certifying the helmet to CE and BSI standards etc then the answer must be NO. So why not ask the supplier/manufacturer??????? I do recall such liners being available for offshore work and then we got them on Oil and gas installation construction work on shore. I still have mine. R

Posted By Dave Merchant In theory it makes no difference to the CE compliance as long as the thing still fits and the hat doesn't have any hard points (buckles, etc.) The CE test uses a solid headform, so merely having hair means your head doesn't reflect the conditions of the test. As any hat you wear under a helmet will be between the cradle and your head, it makes no difference to the clearance values. Wearing fleece beanies (and balaclavas) under a helmet is common when working at height, either in the luvverly British weather or when you're being shot at.

Posted By The toecap If at the end of the day they wear the hard hats you've little to worry about. Its when they wear a soft hat and nothing else. (I mean on top)

Posted By David MacFarlane When I worked offshore the inner hat was known as a zero hood which could be zipped on and off. It was compatible with the MSA "V" guard. I found it to be an excellent product. D
