Hi Folks,

Just looking for some guidance for metal press m/c with regard to safety requirements and common hazards. m/c's used to insert compacts in metal producs to form opening and or add small sections. Some presses operate up to 5 ton pressure apparnently. This is a very intial start of reviewing and i'm basically just trying to find out about this type of machine. Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers

We have just completed a project to phase out power presses, and substitute for pneumatic punch presses. Reasoning for this is power presses are very high maintenance and require electric testing and strip downs within a particular timescales and if they are moved this has to be repeated. These also require mandatory inspections of which we got our insurers to complete, i found the inspector doing the mandatory inspection was the best source of information they give all the requirements.

Cheers

Gavin,

As with anything a number of factors will affect what you are doing, what is the power source, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic? What is the travelling speed of the punch/die? how is the press operated, work piece held. I agree with Bob search HSE they have some good information and it's easy to understand! if you then need specific info, contact me direct.

Mitch
