I've been asked for information about public gatherings. I need to know what the local authority would need in respect of a population of around 700 people of varying ages gathering. I can do all the RA's but has anybody done this before. I' have made an extensive list btu i'd like to see what others have done for similar stuff and if they have doc's i could view even better.

Is it a garden party / demonstration etc? You have to be more specific
Also see the HSE's guide to managing events etc and if the army etc are attending different parameters need to be met
also speak to the local council re their particular needs/requirements

Hello. Its a gatherings of bands in July. The army will not be present. (I hope). As i say i've got an extensive list covered but would require a wee bit of help.

Although I have never organised a large crowd before, I have got the HSE publication "Managing crowds safely" HSG 154 which I would use for guidance if the need ever arose!
It is full of useful information, covering planning, risk assessment, precautions, emergency plans, communication, monitoring crowds and review.

The company I work for is in the process of organising a public event which will take place in the next week or so.
Our Local Authority has proven very useful in providing information about what they expect us to do as the organiser of the event.
Try contacting them and they may prove useful to you.
Good luck

I would echo the previous poster and advise you to contact your LA. Normally an EHO can provide you with the advice and information you need. Also, each LA operates differently - certainly our LA would require an application for a Public Entertainment License for such an event.
