We are launching a motor vehicle safety policy next month which involves weekly formal driver vehicle checks.
We supply the obvious items such as first aid kits and warning triangles but we are looking to purchase car 'safety kits' to enhance the vehicle checks. These mythical car safety kits could contain tyre and tread gauges and a copy of the highway code etc. Has anyone seen this type of kit on the market or should I branch out into a whole new commercial enterprise to fill this growing market?

You might start with something such as the "Car Breakdown Kit" from Halfords, then add to this the extra bits and pieces, e.g. tyre pressure gauge, tread gauge, etc. that you feel are indicated.

Thanks for the information.
I was probably barking up the wrong tree by calling this a 'safety kit' because I saw it as preventative, but at least there is something out there on the market.

Another thing to add to the kit is an extendable 'breaker bar' the bars to undo nuts that come with cars are normally too short to get decent leverage especially if a garage has airgunned the nuts on.
Something that came up from a company I worked at was that they instituted regular vehicle checks, however, the majority of drivers did not know how to carry out basic vehicle checks. I ended up taking groups of 20 staff at a go for a 5 / 10 minute run through of how to do basic vehicle checks at lunchtime.

Having once been trapped an overturned vehicle and unable to break the windscreen to get out -and hearing petrol running out somewhere (!) - one essential piece of kit for me is a suitable pointed hammer to break the glass. However, this needs to be kept within the vehicle in a standard, easily accessible location - not in the kit!

Add to the punch hammer from Chris a safety cutter to slice through seatbelts!!! an absolute must!

Would you believe it - the cutter is actually built in to the handle of the hammer!

A quick google came up with a few choices. This one looks good, but as was said earlier some of the items need to be kept handy.

I suppose it just depends on what you want to spend.
A lot of people phone the breakdown assistance to change wheels especially on motorways.
