Could someone give information on oxy-propane heating/cutting? Can oxy-acetylene regulator and hose be used for oxy-propane purposes?

In a word NO speak to your gas suppkly company they will have all the correct advice/onfo' you need and can supply you with the correct fittings.

I agree, use the correct regulator for the gas.
It's all about offtake rates.
Also, get some flashback arrestors, again the correct types for the gas being used.
Talk to your gas supplier - they will have tons of good material on their web-sites.
