its in part M of the building regs, which is more so to do with accessibility, i cant think of the ratio off the top of my head.

Hi Andrew,
If you are a member of IOSH, best to give the Technical helpline a call. i was after standards for a specific type of ladder width and had a return call with the dimensions and BS Spec that same morning.

The maximum rise per step is different for domestic and commercial premises.
There is also a maximum number of steps between each landing (which I think is what you're asking). 12/13 comes to mind, but as I'm not in work I can't tell you at the moment.
As previously stated - it's in the Building Regs which you can download.

It's 12 steps between landings Andrew, although there can be 16 in what are referred to as exceptional circumstances. This is in premises to which the Building Regs apply.
Schools are different also.
