Posted By Malcolm Hogarth Did any of you see 'The Apprentice' last night? (I am sure one or two must have).
There were 2 teams involved and each team took over an industrial laundry for about 8 hours i believe. During the programme they were seen to be operating associated industrial machinery and equipment.
Just an observation - but I wonder what training, information, instruction and supervision they were given!

Posted By Karen Todd Never mind that - did you see Willie's Wonky Chocolate Factory last week?
All that unguarded ancient machinery and not a hairnet in sight...

Posted By John J There must have been somebody there because they took their ties off and judging by this years teams I doubt that would have thought of anything as straight forward as that on their own.
Besides the lack of guarding in the chocolate factory I'd suggest the biggest problem they've got is the fork lift driver. He dropped the load and then ran into a wall!

Posted By Karen Todd I missed that bit with the FLT!
I tried not to watch The Apprentice with my H&S hat on, but I'm nearly sure I recall seeing an e-stop on the rollers.
My bet is that someone from Auntie risk assessed the entire thing, that the laundries were carefully selected, that training was given, and I reckon the laundry owner was there the entire time out of sight of camera just in case anything did go wrong.
I was v impressed with the boys running the laundry, but they had a huge head start by having someone with experience in a forces laundry.
Still p-ing myself at "Lawrence of Araefia" and "Toffs Tea" though!!!

Posted By James365 I was more concerned of the risk of workplace violence watching the show last night. The entire viewing public would undoubtedly have cheered with delight had someone taken a swing at the female team's leader - a frustrated call centre section leader in waiting if ever there was one.

Posted By willhiem ah now bill, come on, get it right it was a 24 hours hotline to get in contact with your personal account managers!!
so it'd be more like:
caller: how much do i owe for them pants, are they still wet and will you be charging extra to get those stains out?
apprentice: that'll be £5 extra plus tip
Caller: thanks for that, it had me so worried i couldnt sleep!
see, perfect sence really!!
