Hi all, I have a quick question re above.
I've been told that I need to fit switched plug sockets around the workplace but the British Standard that covers these (BS1363) applies to both switched and unswitched versions so are both acceptable? Anybody able to clarify?

Why not ask a manufacturer such as Crabtree, MK Caradon, Ashley etc etc. Their tech depts should be able to advise what is and what isn't appropriate. Or try NECIEC for advice.

Thanks for the reply. I checked out the Niciec site and there was no real info on it just links to their approved contractors.
I will ask the manufacturers but I first wanted to try and get an un biased answer rather than ask someone who has an interest in selling me something ;0) cynic that I am!

I know where your coming from.
Some 2g switched sockets for example are specified in residential homes with the switches out-board as opposed to central. This is supposed to prevent the action of switching off / on the wrong appliance. Un-switched SOs either 1 or 2 gang could be used in an IT situation to prevent accidental switch off, or possibly in a domestic situation such as below worktop appliances where they are isolated elsewhere.
It all depends on your application.
