Posted By Ronan Hello folks I have been working as a Health and Safety Officer for just over a year - i believe i have gained some valuable experience in this short time. I am at present looking to move jobs, and i have had quite a few interviews with some very reputable companies but just have not been able to seal the deal despite making it through to the 2nd interview stages..!! Is there anything i should consider doing that might make me a bit more attractive to a potential employer....i long to do the diploma but realise that this is very time consuming, are there other courses that might help in the short term?

Posted By Scotty Hi Ronan. Are you looking for a job in the same field? Or to widen your horizons? To be honest, a year isn't very long in the whole scheme of things - what employers look for as much as anything else, is experience. More often than not, in excess of a year. You don't say what other qualifications/experience you have, so it's kind of difficult to comment in any detail. In terms of a short term, quick fix to make you more desirable to potential employers? Oh, if only it were that easy for any of us.............! Cheers, Scotty.

Posted By CFT Ronan Do you really want to move on at this moment in time? The experience you will be likely gaining whilst employed in the field you wish to be in is something many aspiring practitioners would like to have. Just a thought, as at least you are in H&S employment. I appreciate you cannot give all the relevant detailing for any of us to make a calculated assumption on the next move. Good luck and all the best CFT
