I have considered all the usual risks but would like to know if anyone who has already carried out such a task has any other items they think I should be considering. here are a list of the things I've considered No Smoking Training of fire wardens, identifiable HI Vis designated fire points with rotary bell waste segregation away from building no hot work without a permit all flammable liquids LPG to be stored in a fenced compound specific fire induction security against arson electrical and gs supplies protected PAT testing material storage many thanks Steve

Posted By GeoffB4 I know Pudding Lane was a catastrophe but that was an exception. Is a wooden framed building more likely to catch fire? If the normal precautions are in place then is there a higher risk? What additional precautions are needed if this is the case?

Posted By Ashley Wood This is embarrassing as I am a fire consultant and never spotted it. 4 years ago I built a self build timber framed house. we nearly lost it because the electrical contractor had strung up some temporary lighting using 100 Watt bulbs. One of the bulbs was laying against a wood upright. The house is on 3 floors and the offending bulb was on the ground floor. The only people in the building at the time were 2 carpenters up on the 3rd floor. They smelt smoke and investigated. The heat from the bulb had charred its way through a 6 by 2 upright and was smoldering away nicely. As the guys reached it burst into flames. A kettle and a Co2 extinguisher were put to good use that day. I gave myself a good talking to and fired myself as the project manager! So, keep an eye on the temporary lighting.
