Posted By malky26 Afternoon All,
My company has recently purchased a sign making machine, are there any legal restrictions on us printing our own safety signs or do they have to be ordered from an external supplier. As I'm based on a Drilling Rig we have high number of safety signs throughout the rig. All our signs will be the correct Shape/Contents & Colour.
I'm trying to source clarification on this before i start updating all our current signage. Ive read through Health & Safety (Safety Signs & Signals) regs that doesnt answer my question. Can you point me in the direction regarding ACOPs & Guidance Notes etc i can source.
Thanks M

nothing at all to prevent you printing your own signs. As long as they are the same, ie pictorial, wording and size, then that is ok.
We do something similar to you, and to be honest some of our signs are not exactly the same. Our local inspector says he's not to worried, so long as the sign is easily understood, not misleading and in the right place.

Posted By Adie I use a free web site to print the signs I have deployed within our factory. http://www.online-sign.com/A recent visit from an HSE Inspector confirmed that these signs were suitable.
