Posted By Andrew M Hey Guys 'n' gals, I have a quandry we have a new senior employee and she's female... and needs safety shoes, We don't have many that need to go into production areas 2 out of 1000+ so we don't tend to stock. My requirements are protective toe cap and midsole. Her requirements lightweight and quick to slip (i.e. non metallic) fashionable and with a heel (she's short and possibly has issues)....?! and quick to slip in and out of. No problem, I said. DOH! Whilst I always try and help out my workplace compatriots think she's pushing her feminine charm a little.... Feel like I should get a job at Clarks. I think by heel she means an inch. I certainly wouldn't be happy with more. (musculoskeletal, slipp/trip) Anyone got any suggestions?

Posted By BethR I personally don't think heels are a good idea. i would never wear them at work. Arco have quiet a good range of ladies safety shoes

Posted By Dave Merchant Lavoro do one (available from ARCO) - it's not what you'd call 'fashionable' but it has a heel. The best plan in these situations is to talk to your HR department about hiring only Goths. We're much easier to satisfy.

Posted By Lisa_ I concur with the ARCO comment, we used to use them all the time. Fashionable is a different issue, then again unless you are asking her to do a catwalk ..... I always remember of my old team commenting that managers got through chairs at the same rate than he did shoes. Try putting a female veggie in safety boots even more of a problem - especially when it was me!

Posted By lizzie harvey Fashionable? LMAO.... hehehe!! Try Alexandra Workwear. Nowt fancy, but soles & therefore heel quite thick (high) Maybe she could jazz the safety shoes up with glitter and sparkly laces?

Posted By Mitch Strewth, The cost of pandering to the minority, tell what the (H&S?Legal) requirements are, give her a catalogue with what is available and tell her how much the company will contribute towards a hand made pair! I wear 'steelies' to protect my feet not to go disco dancing.

Posted By Glyn Atkinson Forget fashion - just think safety! Give this person unreasonably high heels in any footwear and you are just waiting for the first accident / slip and then the claim coming back in to haunt your poor decision if you give in ! It's work place wear, not a fashion show !

Posted By Andrew M Thanks guys'n'gals for all your comments. Had seen the lavoro court shoe, but does not have a midsole. I'll suggest Trojan H11. Thanks again for the assistance. Andrew

Posted By Lilian McCartney slip ons only good if you don't slip out of I had the safety court shoes several years ago and only wore them once for that reason and also that they didn't really go well with the other workwear! Actually they weren't really comfortable but then I wasn't used to wearing 'heels' at work. Lilian

Posted By John J Andrew, Try Romar workwear - 01946690660 and ask for Kerry. We have quite a few female employees and they have met many of our unusual requests. John
