I am looking for any information/guidance regarding the role and responsibility of a HAZOP Team leader.
e.g. What competency does the leader require?

I presume you are working in one of the process industries. Generally a HAZOP chairman will be an experienced engineer with a background in one of the process industries. As a minimum they should also have attended a HAZOP Team Leaders course. I’d have a look at the IChemE site. I think they have some guidance, course and publications on the subject.

I would agree with the last post.

I have attended the I Chem E Hazop leaders course and have siginificant experience undertaking Hazop studies.

As leader you need to be able to do the basic administration/set up the Hazop study - from the PID drawings define the nodes etc.

Chair and guide the study, once complete chase up any actions and close them out.

Email me if you want more info, happy to help with your Hazop, but not free I'm afraid.
