Good afternoon all,
can anybody please advise on what the maximum working hours are for FLT drivers before entitlement for breaks?

I believe the entitlement of breaks for warehouse operatives is every 6 hours!

does this change for FLT drivers?

thanks.

Under Working Time directive an employee working 6 hours is entitled to a 20 miunte break. And it cannot be at the start or end of the shift.

However, your risk assessment on the use of FLT's will cover tiredness/fatigue as a risk and the breaks will need to be adequate.

I would suggest no more than 2 hours without a change of activit yor rest break. Although it willneed to take into the considration of the capabilites of the driver.

and don't forget your health screening!

Lift truck operators should be screened before employment and every 5 years interval from 40. Annually after 65.

Screening should also be undertaken or if any condition may result in a deterioration of operator's abilty.

Think it's in the appendix of 'safety in working with lift trucks'
