We are currently asking approved providers to give us terms to provide your Working Safely to a large number of our staff. We are advised by one provider that the maximum IOSH allow on a course is 12, we are told by another 15 and another 20.

Is there a limit? It obviously affects the costing but I wouldn’t want it to degrade the quality of the training.

Your advise would be appreciated

Hi

I'm not sure if numbers are dictated by IOSH. As a single trainer I wouldn't usually want more than 15 people.

And we have a strict maximum of 12. Some topics with extensive syndicate/practical work are limited to 8.

Hi John - yes there is a maximum limit specified by IOSH.

I believe off hand that the limit is 20 people, but even then, that is a large sized group, and a lot of work to cover.
It may mean that individuals who struggle may not speak up or may be left behind and that detracts any benefit of putting more bodies into the training session.

Hi John
The max number is 20, but 20 is really a lot , 12 would in my view is an ideal number. There is no minimum number required.

The IOSH course managing safely might be of use to some of your employees

Both are excellent courses.

Regards
Seamus
