Posted By Lindsey Hiya All,
A team of our employees have signed for a charity bike riding event. This event will be completed in their own time - outside of working hours.
Although the event organiser is primarily responsible for ensuring that all participants health, safety and welfare are catered for.
We would like to go the extra mile not only to provide support and sponsorship but to ensure that our team are prepared for the charity bike ride event.
Has anyone ever completed a brief for employees prior completing a charity bike riding event ?
or
has anyone any ideas as to what should be included in a brief for employees before they take part in a charity bike ride?
All responses are greatfully received
Lindsey

Posted By Glyn Atkinson We have a company sponsored charity bike ride each June between Hull and Scarborough, supported by free time given by first aiders who drive two support vehicles.
Our company's public liability policy is extended to cover any problems from accidents / incidents en route by any company rider on the day of the ride.
Meetings take place prior to the day of the event to ensure that riders are aware of all safety requirements and are fully equipped with the necessary safety wear for their protection, and helmets are mandatory for ALL riders.
We also restrict the riders to full time employees only to stop any problems from the policy for accidents / incidents.
(We are also suffering from twisted arms all the way to the date from riders looking for sponsorship - I have no jurisdiction on accident prevention in this case as I am usually one of the first victims - give a large amount, then others will also give generously!)

Having completed a 200 mile cycle event on Saturday, I would firmly leave the safety briefing to the organisers.
