Francis

I think the painting of the office falls in the provision of the welfare at work regs in regard to providing a clean comfortable working environment, I have worked in some shabby surroundings before, a good lick of paint improves the feeling of being looked after and therefore should improve staff moral and productivity.

Reg 9 states 'The suface of the floors, walls and ceilings of all workplaces inside buildings shall be capable of being kept sufficiently clean.'

The suface of walls should be renewed when it can no longer be cleaned properley.

So dirty and pealing walls need new paint.

Do think about who and how its going to be done, working with ladders, paints etc.
