Posted By RBW100 Hello!
My understanding of RIDDOR is that a case of CTS is only reportable if the IP is engaged with work involving vibrating hand tools.
Do other agree?

Posted By Ian_P yip yip,
"a person at work suffers one of a number of specified diseases, provided that a doctor diagnoses the disease and the person’s job involves a specified work activity"
The specificed work activity for CTS is "Work involving use of hand held vibrating tools"
(Schedule 3, reg 5)

Posted By Ron Hunter Info on HSE website and Schedule 3 of RIDDOR says you are correct (disease number 13 on the list). A note of caution though- you have a very specific diagnosis there. Is it possible that the condition could be number 12 on Schedule 3?:
"Traumatic inflammation of the tendons of the hand or forearm or of the associated tendon sheaths."
Reporting of that condition applies more globally to "Physically demanding work, frequent or repeated movements, constrained postures or extremes of extension or flexion of the hand or wrist."

Posted By R M Diss Hi, we had a Secretary diagnosed with CTS. On checking with the HSE Advice Line, they said it is reportable under number '8' of schedule 3 'Cramp of the hand or forearm due to repetitive movements - work involving prolonged periods of handwriting, typing or other repetitive movements of the fingers, hand or arm.' To be on the safe side, I reported it, as non-reporting of a reportable disease is an offence. You won't be pulled up for reporting something that turns out to be non-reportable.
