I have been asked to put together a health and safety system for Nightclub Doormen.
Can anyone give me any guidance?
I have looked at the Security Industry Training Organisation website but I need more specific information on content for the system.

Pete

I stumbled across an interesting piece of civil case law recently regarding a bouncer, contract and job descriptions. This might assist you in formulating a policy. I will check my archives and see if I can find it.

One area of major concern is violence at work. If doormen are qualified SIA badged (and they should be to get the work) they will be trained in conflict management. Though this is not a long course and I would not say this is the best training they could get, at least it is appropriate to their job.
It would be worth looking at the content of the SIA approved courses for door staff, they include subjects like the Law and H&S and the training would act as a control on the risks involved.
The rest of the risks are the usual, fire, slips and trips, etc. Though you may also want to consider the time of day at which they work. Some people aren't at their best at 2 am.
