I am looking at putting a Risk Assessment together for the refurbishmnet of a 24hour petrol station. It will be staying open during the work, which is estimated to last up to 6 months.
Can anyone give me any pointers as to what I should consider?

Hi Tony

I would think about if the work going to impede access/egress from the shop and if there is any hot work going on in the forecourt, such as putting up new signage and such.

6 months?!!! I've never heard of a PFS refurb extending to anything like that timescale. It would be ineteresting to see the intended scope of works.
I suggest that there will have to be at least some periods of temporary closure to move materials and equipment on and off site etc. and that LA Planning/Building Control will invariably restrict the hours for construction work.
There will be interruptions, and there will be loss of income and custom.Anything else is unrealistic.
Don't forget maintaining the safety of tanker deliveries - particularly if these are driver controlled. Tankers need to get out in forward gear at all times.
Maintaining safety zones at tanks, mnaholes, dispensers etc. will all be dependent on scope of works and site layout, and an area where the expert Principal Contractor will guide you.
