Posted By Kris Kelly Can anyone help. I'm looking for a system of work for my operatives working in a domestic loft.
Currently they use a step ladder and pull themselves in, once in the loft they have no crawl boards and use the joist to navigate around the space. I know there are many issues here but I am struggling to find a supply for crawl boards.
Pls help!!!!!!!

Posted By Glyn Atkinson I used a couple of cut down scaffold boards when I was boarding my loft out - very solid to kneel on while bringing more materials to use up in the loft.
I also put on two lath timbers to catch with joists so that the scaffold boards did not slip when I stood up.
These laths could be adjusted to fit any imperial / metric span of joists if need be.
Simple, safe, cost effective for what I was doing.

Posted By Ron Hunter The actual task will determine to a great extent what might be considered practicable (some good advice above though). Sorry to add a 'downer' to proceedings, but I don't believe hoisting yourself through whilst standing on a stepladder is acceptable in a work context. You should be using a folding or sectional leaning ladder which can project into the loft space and offer adequate hand-hold at the step on/off point.
